I finished putting my stove back together this past Friday. It's in my kitchen and I can't stop looking at it. It's been a long wait. I bought the stove this past June and did a 100% rehab on it- rechroming, cleaning, replacing broken parts and reinsulating the thermowell, the oven and the oven door. I took me a couple of hours to adjust the burners and pilots and I haven't stopped cooking yet. I baked corn bread in the thermowell, it came out perfect. My Chambers stove replaced my Maytag that was only a couple of years old. The Maytag was repaired twice and needed to be fixed again. I just couldn't do it. I put alot of money into my "new" stove, but I wanted something that was going to last. I have a feeling that this stove will out live me.

Congratulations! I know first hand what hard work that was. I can only imagine what it's like to actually cook on one of these old stoves.

    Got any photos?

Well, aren't you just a lean mean clean machine...

I probably wish mine was in top notch condition also, but I am afraid that is beyond us now. CONGRATULATIONS...

Now put your money where your mouth is and post your corn bread recipe...Please... Did you use buttermilk? I needed to make some for New Years and don't have buttermilk...V I am really happy for you

It is a great feeling to get it done. I do have some pictures but I still have to get some film developed, I don't have a digital camera yet. The corn bread recipe is in the Idle Hour cookbook. Follow the recipe for the thermobaker. It doesn't use buttermilk.
